Bo Pelini Foundation Executive Director, Connie Jamrog announced today that Football 101--presented by the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center and the Bo Pelini Foundation, Inc., raised $125,000 for local charities. Proceeds from the all-day event held at the University of Nebraska on Tuesday, June 2 will go to support breast cancer research and treatment in Nebraska. The UNMC Eppley Cancer Center and the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center Foundation will each receive $25,000 from the Bo Pelini Foundation. The remainder of the proceeds, after expenses, will go to other charitable causes that the Bo Pelini Foundation supports within its mission.
On behalf of the Bo Pelini Foundation Board of Directors, Connie Jamrog extended her sincere thanks to all who helped to make this event a huge success.
“We are very appreciative of the assistance we received from our coaches, sponsors, committee members and volunteers,” Connie Jamrog said. “In order to accommodate the nearly 1,000 women who attended this interactive event, it took great teamwork. The participants had a wonderful day learning about Husker football, but the real beneficiaries are the Nebraska women and their families who are affected each day by breast cancer. Each and every person who attended Football 101 knew someone affected by this disease.”
The Bo Pelini Foundation was founded in 2008 by Bo and Mary Pat Pelini. Their mission is to provide financial support to nonprofits specifically organized to fight cancer and juvenile and adult diabetes and those whose mission is to assist disadvantaged children, concentrating on, but not limited to, the needs of Nebraska families.
