Football 101 - June 1, 2011

Presented by the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center and the Bo Pelini Foundation

Thank you for signing up for Football 101, presented by the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center and the Bo Pelini Foundation, Inc. It should be a wonderful fun day of football and will also raise money for a very worthy cause -- the fight against breast cancer!

Please read the following directions carefully:

  • Please dress comfortably. We will be inside most of the day, but it may get warm in the Hawks Center depending on outside weather and as we move from station to station. In addition, many of the sessions will incorporate physical activity. Tennis shoes or walking shoes are a must!

  • If you signed up online, you should have immediately received a confirmation e-mail upon successful completion of your credit card transaction. You are welcome to bring this with you, but it is not necessary. No hard tickets were mailed and none will be needed. Upon arrival, please go to the registration table marked with the first letter of your last name to begin the registration process.

  • Parking services will staff and sell the following lots:
    • Booster Lot 8 – a surface lot just north of Memorial Stadium, south of Salt Creek Roadway
      ($3 each car all day)
    • Booster Lot 5 – a surface lot on 14th and Avery, just south of Salt Creek Roadway
      ($3 each car all day)
    • Booster Lot 9 -- 14th and Avery Garage, just south of Salt Creek Roadway
      ($3 each car all day)
    • Stadium Parking Garage -- just west of the Stadium
      ($5 each car all day)
    • All valid UNL parking permits will be honored
    • Handicap parking is available in Lot 8
      ($3 each car all day)

  • Please enter at the northwest entrance to the Hawks Championship Center on UNL’s city campus. This entrance is the one closest to Salt Creek Roadway. The Hawks Championship Center is just north of Memorial Stadium.

  • Registration is from 7:00 – 8:15 a.m. During this time you will be able to shop the vendors and bid on the wonderful unique Husker silent auction items. After lunch at the Champions Club, at 1:45 p.m., the silent auction will close. Credit card payments will be accepted and winners will be posted in the lobby of the Hawks Championship Center. Be sure to check the website later this week for a listing of the auction items that will be available.

  • Your gift bag that you will receive free with your registration will include a pen and paper, but you may want to bring spending money for vendors if you wish to make any purchases.

  • Registration will take place in the field portion of the Hawks. Please remember that only water is allowed on the field at Hawks (sorry, no pop or coffee).

  • The participants of Football 101 will be divided into three colors: orange, yellow and blue. Like last year, if you wish to be with a friend or a group of friends throughout the day, simply go to the Wrist Band Table with your friends and choose the same color. All participants will be assigned one of three colors and will go through the same sessions and eat lunch at the same time as their assigned color group.

  • The day’s final event will begin at 3:45 p.m. with the Tunnel Walk into Memorial Stadium. At this time all cancer survivors will be saluted. The day will conclude at approximately 4:15 p.m. There will be a private reception for cancer survivors immediately following the event with Coach Pelini and therefore, he will be unable to sign autographs. However, many autographed items will be available on the silent auction.
